Issues at Hand

Trammell Crow, a division of the world’s largest commercial real estate and investment firm, submitted an application to the City of Morgan Hill to build a 1.1 million square foot warehouse facility next to residential areas, DePaul Health Center, and Westmont Senior Living Community in early 2019. Less than 1% of Morgan Hill residents, only 174 households in total, were directly notified that the development of the proposed warehouse facility had begun.

500,000 square feet of warehouse was approved in November 2018 in the blink of an eye. There was no community input. The City Council didn't provide any input. Even the planning commission, whose sole task is to oversee development large and small, has no documentation on file regarding evaluation or approval of this titanic buildout. How could this happen? Don't we have specific processes to prevent reckless development? Is the good of the community represented by anybody? Read below to find out more.
